Lesson Description
Federal law requires that dealerships and their employees safeguard the non-public personal information of consumers. Non-public information (or “NPI”) consists of any information a consumer provides on a credit application, any information learned about the consumer from a credit report, or any other information about the consumer that is not available to the general public. This lesson is designed to be taken by all dealership employees. It provides the learner with a basic understanding of the Safeguards Rule (The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act), the importance of protecting customer non-public information, and steps employees should take to protect NPI.
